What We Can Achieve

OBJECTIVES

]

Increase access to data and information on the impact and manifestations of anti-Gypsyism in the education sector.

]

Develop teaching materials on discrimination against Roma students and improve the skills of educators and professionals active in Roma inclusion.

]

Strengthen the capacities of Roma graduates, university students, and high school students to become ambassadors against discrimination and promote positive change within their communities.

]

Empower young Roma women with an academic background to become “influencers” capable of generating positive change through the creation of an initial video library of positive narratives.

]

Raise awareness within and outside Roma communities regarding education as a crucial factor for the social inclusion of young Roma.

ACADE-ME aims to counter the deep-rooted anti-Roma prejudice in the education sector and promote the social inclusion of Roma students. This phenomenon, recognized as a form of institutional and social racism by European institutions like the European Parliament and the Council of Europe, represents a significant obstacle to the equality and integration of Roma communities, especially in the educational context.

Aligned with the “EU Strategic Framework for Roma Equality, Inclusion, and Participation” (2020-2030), ACADE-ME places education at the center of its action to combat discrimination, promote integration, and address structural barriers such as:

  • school segregation
  • low academic expectations and limited educational resources
  • factors that perpetuate cycles of poverty and social exclusion for Roma students.

ACADE-ME addresses these challenges with targeted interventions aimed at creating concrete opportunities and providing the necessary support for Roma students to fully express their potential, enabling them to actively and equally contribute to social and economic life.

The project aims to actively engage Roma communities, promoting positive change through training programs, awareness-raising activities, and the creation of educational and informational resources.
