Starting today, the first two free training courses are available online on the ACADE-ME project’s e-learning platform, designed for students as well as social professionals.
This training opportunity is aimed at those who want to contribute to a fairer, more inclusive, and more aware education, and for anyone interested in deepening their understanding of antigypsyism and the discriminations that still affect Roma communities in Europe.
The courses are the result of the research carried out during the first year of the ACADE-ME project – Accelerating Capabilities against Anti-gypsyism and Discriminations in Education – co-funded by the European programme Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values. The project pursues an ambitious yet necessary goal: addressing the persistent failure of Roma social inclusion by placing education and the promotion of positive role models at the core of the fight against discrimination.
Learning Objectives and Acquired Skills
The ACADE-ME training courses are designed to provide knowledge, practical tools, and critical awareness to anyone who wishes to actively contribute to building a fairer and more inclusive society.
The objective is twofold: on the one hand, to offer students a deeper understanding of discriminatory dynamics and the mechanisms that perpetuate stereotypes and inequalities; on the other hand, to support educators, social workers, and professionals in recognizing and addressing antigypsyism and structural inequalities within education systems.
By the end of the course, participants are expected to have acquired the skills and tools necessary to identify biases, promote active participation, foster intercultural dialogue, and activate more inclusive and diversity-sensitive educational practices.
The training is divided into two pathways, each tailored to a specific audience:
Pathway for Students
An educational journey to learn, understand, and take action:
- History and national context: insights into the origins, culture, and challenges faced by Roma youth in the educational systems of the partner countries.
- Stereotypes and prejudices: where they come from, how to recognize them, and how Roma and non-Roma can overcome them together.
- Discrimination and the hidden curriculum in Europe.
- Online hate speech: tools to identify and counter it.
- Disinformation and fake news: media literacy and critical thinking.
- Mentoring and good practices: fostering civic engagement and participation.
- Gender gap: actively engaging Roma girls and young women.
Pathway for Social Professionals
A training program designed for educators, social workers, teachers, and activists:
- Historical and national context: data and information on Roma communities, with a focus on education.
- Life and educational needs of Roma children and youth.
- Discrimination in European education systems.
- Antigypsyism and school: what it is, how it manifests, and how to counter it.
- Early school leaving: causes, consequences, and intervention strategies.
- Dropout prevention: risk factors and professional approaches.
- Romani language and bilingualism: a cultural resource to be valued.
Multilingual and Certified Training
The training content is available not only in English but also in Italian, Greek, Slovenian, Bulgarian, Hungarian, and Serbian, ensuring wider and more inclusive access. Each course is structured into simple, accessible thematic modules, enriched with self-assessment quizzes that allow participants to obtain a certificate of completion.
The platform will continue to grow: new materials, open educational resources (OER), and additional modules will be uploaded until the end of the project, contributing to the sustainability and long-term impact of the initiative.
How to Participate
Accessing the courses is simple and free: just register on the e-learning platform via the official website www.academe-project.eu and follow the instructions to start your training journey.
